Welcome to the latest edition of our sustainability update! This release is packed with powerful enhancements to help you move faster on your sustainability journey. With ERP-integrated transport footprint calculations, easier onboarding via the SAP Sustainability Footprint Management Booster, and deeper insights into product emissions, we’re making it simpler than ever to measure and manage your impact. Plus, explore new flexibility in SAP Green Ledger and upgraded ESG reporting features in the SAP Sustainability Control Tower, helping you turn sustainability goals into measurable results.

SAP Sustainability Footprint Management:

  • Kickstart your SFM journey with the Onboarding Booster

With the Onboarding Booster, SAP accelerates the setup of an SAP Sustainability Footprint Management tenant on SAP BTP. The guided, automated process completes the onboarding in just a few minutes. Integrated into the SAP BTP cockpit, the booster walks you through key steps like checking prerequisites, selecting the identity service, and creating or choosing a subaccount. After confirmation, the system automatically performs all required configurations. The result is a fully prepared environment ready for role assignment and productive use, reducing complexity and helping you to get started quickly.

  • Understand what drives your product’s footprint — with Source Input Items

The new Source Input Items view provides a transparent overview of all materials and resources that contribute to a product’s carbon footprint - from raw materials to transport and packaging.

Users can now easily generate and analyze the total Climate Change CO₂e impact per life cycle stage or item type, helping to identify key emission drivers and optimization potential across the value chain.

This feature not only enhances traceability and understanding of environmental impacts but also enables the generation of a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) document directly within SAP SFM - supporting compliance and data-driven sustainability decision.

SAP Green Ledger:

  • Flexible creation of allocations from scratch

In SAP Green Ledger, a new enhancement in the Manage Allocations app allows you to create allocation models from scratch using the Create New Model button. With this functionality, you can directly define senders and receivers without relying on predefined templates. This gives you greater flexibility to design customized allocation models that align with your organization’s specific financial structures and reporting needs.
  • Connection check for S/4HANA Finance Systems

A new feature in SAP Green Ledger Administration now allows you to verify the connection to business systems with the role “SAP S/4HANA Finance.”

With this enhancement, administrators can easily check whether the link to the connected finance system exists and is reachable - ensuring a seamless integration between SAP S/4HANA Finance and Green Ledger.

This update improves transparency, supports reliable data transfer, and strengthens the foundation for integrated financial and sustainability reporting.

SAP Sustainability Control Tower:

The latest updates in Sustainability Control Tower enable faster and more efficient workflows, enhanced Analytics and Reporting and a brand-new Sample Report, that replaces the ESRS Starter Pack.

  • New section: “Reporting Scope and Data Collection”

SAP has introduced a dedicated section on the Fiori launchpad to help organizations better manage their sustainability reporting processes. This new functionality focuses on structuring and streamlining data collection for ESG metrics.

    Key features:

    • Define reporting scope: Organizations can specify which ESG metrics need to be reported, aligning with regulatory frameworks like ESRS. (enables the translation of the Materiality Assessment results into Reporting Scopes)
    • Assign data collection tasks: Responsibilities can be distributed across departments or individuals, translating reporting requirements into specific data collection tasks.
    • Roles and responsibilities:  Assign a “Processor” to receive a Data Collection form for a specific period and an “Approver” to receive the submitted data form from the Processor for approval or rejection (workflow recipients will receive notifications on the new “My Inbox” app.)
    • Workflow-based data collection: Define data collection forms and schedule data collection runs for specific reporting periods.
    • Track progress: The workflow provides visibility into the status of each data collection task. Audit trail: All actions are logged, supporting transparency and compliance

    Key Benefits:
✅ Clarity: Clearly defines what data needs to be collected, when, and how.
✅ Efficiency: Reduces administrative effort by streamlining the data gathering process.
✅ Auditability: Provides a clear audit trail for all collected data.

  • Unlocking sustainability insights: New analytics features

The new Analytics tab enables users to display detailed data for any quantitative metrics. This feature allows users to explore ESG metrics in greater depth, offering flexible filtering, drilldowns, and custom views tailored to specific reporting needs. Users can configure how each metric is displayed by default — choosing between chart or table view, and setting the reporting period and structure values.
Clicking on a metric tile will now take the user to the Analytics tab (previously, this navigated to the “Our ambitions” app).
The update supports better decision-making by turning raw sustainability data into actionable insights. Users can now visualize trends, compare performance across entities, and prepare data for decision making — all within the same interface.
  • Sample report replaces the ESRS Starter Pack

SAP has introduced a new Sample Report (SCTSREPORT) for the SCT, which replaces the previously available “ESRS Starter Pack”. It provides an example of how to create custom reports with the data from the SCT connector (SCTCONNECT) environment.

Unlike the ESRS Starter Pack, which was limited to ESRS metrics and previously only offered a read-only experience, the Sample Report provides a flexible template for creating custom ESG reports. It includes:

✅ Rich-text editing for modifying existing content
✅ A variety of chart options to display data graphically
✅ Integration with the SCT Connector environment in CPE-UM, which now exposes master data, measure data, and custom metric data

Users are advised to copy the Sample Report environment before making any changes, as future updates will overwrite the changes made to the original version.

This update gives users more control over their reporting structure and presentation, making ESG disclosures more adaptable and visually engaging.
